Things to do...

There is something for everyone at Wendover Woods and with 700 hectares of deciduous and pine woodland, young and old can be kept entertained.

For large groups, please contact Jon on 07716 129534, who will help tailor a day to your requirements.

1    Stunning walks
There are walks for all abilities at Wendover Woods with stunning views across The Vale. There is an 'all ability' trail suitable for buggies and wheel chairs. With the ridgeway close by, the Café in the Woods is the perfect place to start and finish a walk. Click Maps for our leaflet to give you an idea of what's here.
2    Adventure playground
Open all year round, the children's play area is very popular with all ages. Why not grab a sandwich and a take-away latté from the Café as you go. The children can then go wild in the woods as we used to do; building dens and climbing trees. Please leave the woods as you would like to find them, by recycling your litter. Thank you.
3    Go Ape
Opened in 2008 Go Ape offers physically and mentally challenging adventure high up in the trees for
friends, families or colleagues. You will be fitted with a climbing harness and given instruction before trekking from tree to tree high above the woodland floor. Split into a number of different sections, the experience takes approximately 2.5-3 hours to complete, but may vary depending on how many people are up in the trees. Why not follow it up with a tasty refreshment at the Café in the Woods as a reward for your endeavours.
Please click Go Ape for more information on participant restrictions and cost.
4    Fitness trails
Built by the R.A.F. after WWII, the forest fitness trail is well maintained and offers users the chance to use natural materials as part of circuit training or to keep fit. Please click Fitness Trail for the map.
5    Bird and wildlife watching
Wendover Woods attracts birds of many different species, some of which are seasonal visitors, rare in Southern England. These include the Crossbill and the Firecrest. With feeders situated close to the Café in the Woods, one can enjoy watching the birds over a cappuccino and a panini. There is also a bird hide in the pine woodland.
6    Mountain biking and cycling
Wendover Woods offers a family cycle trail which is 5 miles long and allows you to take in the beauty of the Chilterns as you cycle up hill and down Aylesbury Vale. With easy access to the Aston Hill Downhill Mountain biking area, the Café in the Woods is the ideal base or starting point.
7    Children's activities
The Café in the Woods offers an extensive range of activities for children working in conjunction with the Forestry Commission and local companies such as Green School. Whether it be for a Birthday party or an activity for the school holidays, let the kids run wild in the woods, fully supervised by a Ranger. Learn about bushcraft and shelter building, enjoy nature rambles with creepy crawly safari and wildlife in the woods, then come back for a wild-style party at The Café in the Woods.
Lessons and activities can be organised with the aid of a knowledgeable Wildlife Ranger; this is suitable for all ages and organisations, church groups, N.C.T., community groups as well as private bookings.
For more details, please email Enquiries@CafeintheWoods.co.uk.
8    Educational days
The Café in the Woods works closely with the Forestry Commission and local organisations to offer a community/educational room for groups of adults or children.
Either book the room for a seminar or training day and delicious lunches can be provided by The Café in the Woods. Lessons and activities can be organised and the knowledgeable Wildlife Ranger can teach you about our local wildlife, bushcraft and the history of the area.
The day can be rounded off with a BBQ in the woods. Groups that have taken advantage of these facilities include Church groups, N.C.T., The Natural History Museum, Schools and Youth groups.
